Prime Minister Modi had been launched Krishi Sakhi Training Programme in Varanasi
On June 18, 2024, in Varanasi, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will bestow certificates as Krishi Sakhis upon over 30,000 self-help groups. On August 30, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Ministry of Rural Development signed an MOU in recognition of the significant role and contribution that women play in agriculture and to advance the capabilities of rural women. Under the terms of this MOU, an ambitious initiative is the Krishi Sakhi Certification Programme.
What is Krishi Sakhi Certification Program?
Under the 'Lakhpati Didi' programme, the goal is to generate 3 crore Lakhpati Didis; Krishi Sakhi is one aspect of this. With the help of the Krishi Sakhi Certification Programme, "Krishi Sakhi" will become a "Agricultural Para-Extension Assistant" and receive training and certification. The goals of the "Lakhpati Didi" programme are furthered by the Krishi Sakhi Certification Programme.

What kind of training is being provided to Krishi Sakhis?
Krishis have already been trained on various extension services for 56 days on the following modules:
1. Basic communication skills
2. Basics of livestock management
3. Bio-input preparation, use and establishment of bio-input shops
4. Soil health, soil and moisture conservation practices
5. Integrated farming system
6. Organizing farmer field schools
7. Seed bank + establishment and management
8. Agro-ecological practices from land preparation to harvest
In which states has the Krishi Sakhi Training Programme been launched at present?
The Krishi Sakhi Training Programme Phase-1 has been launched in 12 states:
Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya.
